The food safety teams, during a crackdown, seized 400kg adulterated spices and ghee from Jhang Road here on Thursday. According to official sources, the teams conducted raids at two production units in Munirabad, Jhang Road and found that adulterated spices were being prepared by violating the SOPs. In another unit, poor quality ghee was being manufactured from offal, waste of animals. Both the units were sealed while owners were booked. Separately, the environment protection agency sealed a boiler of a sizing unit on Jhang Road and imposed Rs 200,000 fine on the owner for burning prohibited material in the boiler. The team also inspected a straw board unit in Chak No 67-JB and sealed its boiler in violation of smog prevention and control rules. In another inspection near Chak No 70-JB, the team filed a case against the owner of a filling station on the charge of de-sealing the boiler itself.
