338 electricity thieves nabbed in 24 hoursBreaking

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) continued its campaign against electricity thieves on the 57th day, detecting 338 connections involved in the crime and registering FIRs against 223 accused. According to a LESCO spokesman, the caught connections included 6 commercial, 1 industrial, and 254 domestic connections. After disconnecting all the connections, the consumers were charged for 3 lakh 24 thousand 326 units of detection bill, amounting to Rs. 1 crore 32 lakh 66 thousand 285. The highest detection bills were charged to connections in Fazal Colony (Rs. 250,000), Sadiq Colony (Rs. 200,000), Ramgali area (Rs. 200,000), and Mustafaabad area (Rs. 158,046).

The spokesman added that during the 57-day campaign, LESCO has arrested 11,826 suspects and found 23,469 connections involved in electricity theft. So far, the company has charged electricity thieves for 4 crore 44 lakh 57 thousand 345 units, amounting to Rs. 1 billion 90 crore 72 lakh 32 thousand 291. LESCO has vowed to continue its crackdown on electricity theft until the menace is completely eradicated.
