A major power outage gripped Peshawar, plunging the city into darkness for 24 hours following an intrusion at a grid station that led to several feeder faults. According to a spokesman from Peshawar Electric Supply Corporation (Pesco), the forced activation of the grid by unidentified intruders caused an overload and subsequent system trip. This malfunction left 32 feeders out of service, with 12 feeders remaining non-operational for a full day, severely impacting residents and businesses in both urban and suburban areas. The sudden blackout caused significant disruption, halting daily activities and causing widespread distress among the population. Efforts to restore electricity were hampered by the extent of the damage.
"Yesterday's forced start of the grid led to an immediate overload and tripping of the system during maintenance operations. This resulted in a power supply disruption on 32 feeders," the Pesco spokesman explained. Power was eventually restored to all 32 feeders connected to the Rehman Baba grid station, with normal supply schedules resuming. Residents are urged to report any suspicious activities around grid stations to prevent future incidents and ensure the stability of the power supply.
