A total of 218 new dengue cases were reported in Punjab, Pakistan, during the last 24 hours, according to Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan. The highest number of cases was reported in Lahore, with 122 new cases. Other cities with a significant number of new cases include Rawalpindi (25 cases), Multan (18 cases), and Gujranwala (26 cases). A total of 171 dengue patients are currently under treatment in hospitals across Punjab. The news of the new dengue cases comes as Pakistan is already grappling with an ongoing outbreak of the disease. According to the National Institute of Health, a total of 25,932 confirmed dengue cases and 62 deaths have been reported nationally between January 1 and September 27, 2023. The Pakistani government has taken a number of steps to try to control the dengue outbreak, including launching a public awareness campaign and increasing the number of hospital beds available to dengue patients. However, the outbreak continues to spread, and the government has warned that the situation could worsen in the coming weeks.
