Police on Wednesday arrested 14 Afghan nationals on suspicion of living illegally in the city and sent them to a holding centre for verification of their documents.The government has intensified a crackdown on illegally residing Afghan citizens. According to a police spokesperson, Hyderabad Police conducted operations in various areas and arrested 14 suspects. They were sent to a holding centre.The spokesperson said that the verification of documents and identities of all individuals was ongoing.
All the suspects will remain in the holding centre until the verification is complete. Action will be taken against those who do not meet the legal requirements, he added. The police spokesperson said that the operations are continuing in accordance with government instructions, adding the process of identifying and verifying illegal residents has been accelerated, and further legal action will be taken after the verification is completed.
