1,270 bags of fake fertilizer seizedBreaking

The Agriculture (Extension) Department has seized 1,270 bags of counterfeit DAP fertilizer worth Rs.20.32 million during a raid on a rice mill in Mouza Mohla,officials said on Friday.The raid was carried out at Hasan Rice Mills under the supervision of Director Agriculture (Extension) Gujrat Division Dr.Irfanullah Warraich by Assistant Director Agriculture (Extension) and Assistant Controller Fertilizer Muhammad Athar Latif,according to department sources.Officials collected samples during the operation and sealed 1,140 bags,each weighing 50kgs and valued at Rs. 18.24 million.

Subsequent laboratory tests confirmed the fertilizer was counterfeit, the sources added. A case has been registered against Muhammad Azmat and other suspects under the Punjab Fertilizer Control Act, 2025.As part of the investigation,1244 bags were taken into police custody as case property while Hasan Rice Mills in-charge Ghulam Hussain was arrested. Officials said further investigation was underway to identify and apprehend others allegedly involved in the counterfeit fertilizer supply chain.
