As many as 11 members of a family drowned after rainwater flooded the basement of their house in Darra Adamkhel in Kohat District, officials said on Tuesday. Body of a little girl who was missing and the rescue personnel were searching for her, later located her body. A spokesman of the Kohat Rescue Service told reporters that the after heavy downpour the basement of house was flooded with rainwater. The spokesman said 11 members of the family including women and children got trapped in the flooded basement where they were sleeping. All the 11 died after drowning in the rainwater. Meanwhile, heavy rains have brought an end to long drought in Khyber District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Khyber Bara, Jamrud, Landi Kotal and Tirah Valley received heavy rains bringing down the mercury. Two injured people were rescued after a Suzuki car was trapped under the debris of landslide near Kathwal area on Thandiani Road in Abbottabad on Tuesday. According to Rescue 1122, personnel two ambulances including a rescue vehicle were rushed to the site and rescued an injured man and a child. After a long strenuous effort, the rescuers were able to take out the two wounded alive. After giving first-aid to them, the Rescue 1122 personnel shifted the two to DHQ Hospital in Abbottabad.
