High-powered Islamic nations’ delegation to visit India to push for Gaza truceBreaking

November 22, 2023

A seven-member delegation from Arab and Islamic countries, chosen in Riyadh, is set to visit P5 nations, including India, as part of an initiative to address the ongoing crisis in Gaza, sources said. While the date of their visit to India is yet to be finalized, the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Palestine, Indonesia, and the General Secretary of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are part of the delegation. The delegation aims to engage with officials from all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (P5) – namely the US, Russia, China, France and Britain to seek support in persuading Israel to cease hostilities in Gaza. Notably, the visit follows an extraordinary joint Arab and Islamic summit in Riyadh on November 11, 2023. The ministers plan to discuss urgent measures for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, initiate a genuine political process, and address humanitarian concerns.
