Transshipment cargo vessel reaches GwadarBreaking

May 05, 2026

The first transshipment cargo vessel of May 2026, MV Show Long, has anchored at Gwadar Port, marking the first major ship to arrive at the port this month.

A GPA official told Gwadar Pro, the vessel is carrying 16,077 metric tons of transshipment cargo, including over 13,000 packages of Chinese-manufactured industrial equipment and pipes.

The shipment was originally destined for Kuwait, but due to the ongoing maritime situation in the Strait of Hormuz, it was diverted to Gwadar.

According to the Chairman of Gwadar Port, Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, the transshipment vessels’ arrival at Gwadar Port highlights the port’s growing importance as alternative trade routes are being explored across the region.

He further stated that berthing, cargo handling, and documentation processes for diverted vessels are being carried out efficiently, strengthening the port’s operational readiness and enhancing its credibility in global trade.

This development is positioning Gwadar Port as a key transshipment hub in the Arabian Sea, providing a safe and efficient alternative route for the Gulf and regional markets.
