Students and faculty members from the University of the Punjab visited the Karot Hydropower Project, situated on the Jhelum River. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical insights into renewable energy technologies, hydropower generation, and sustainable development practices. During the visit, students toured the project site, gaining firsthand knowledge of hydropower plant operations, turbine systems, and the role of advanced engineering in achieving clean energy goals. The Karot Hydropower Project, which is part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is a 720 MW plant that contributes significantly to Pakistan's energy sector by providing sustainable and environmentally friendly electricity.
Throughout the year, many such visits to hydropower sites have been organized. Chinese firms involved in various industrial and power projects in Pakistan have been partnering with universities across the country to create platforms and opportunities for young people to grow and learn. These collaborations encompass a range of initiatives, such as internships, research and training opportunities, scholarships to Chinese universities, and educational trips to Chinese project sites to witness real-time operations and implementation.
