Pakistan showcases its potential in offshore wind power sector at World Maritime Conference Breaking

BEIJING, Nov. 18 (INP): Pakistan showcased its potential in renewable energy and offshore wind power development at World Maritime Equipment Conference held in Fujian. Representing Pakistan at the Conference, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi highlighted Pakistan’s potential in renewable energy and offshore sector. In his address at a side seminar, he spoke about Pakistan’s strategic advantages as a coastal nation and called for enhanced bilateral collaboration in technology, infrastructure, and investment.  The visit included high-level meetings, a tour of Fujian’s urban and maritime advancements, and discussions aimed at deepening ties within the Pakistan-China bilateral framework, Gwadar Pro reported on Monday.

Speaking at the Seminar on High-Quality Development of Offshore Wind Power Supply Chain, Ambassador Hashmi emphasized Pakistan’s natural advantages, including its extensive coastline of over 1,000 kilometers, and reiterated the country’s strong commitment to transitioning to renewable energy sources.  Acknowledging China’s rapid advancements in the offshore wind industry, the Ambassador stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation through technology exchanges, infrastructure development, and regulatory support. 

He invited Chinese investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s burgeoning offshore wind energy sector.  Ambassador Hashmi also met with senior officials from Fuzhou, including the city’s top political leader, Ms. Guo Ningning. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing Pakistan-China relations and strengthening ties between Pakistan and Fuzhou under the broader bilateral framework. The Ambassador highlighted Pakistan’s renewed focus on B2B engagement with China, guided by Pakistani leadership, and expressed his determination to boost collaboration between business enterprises in the two countries. 

In addition to participating in the conference, Ambassador Hashmi toured the World Maritime Equipment Conference and received briefings on urban planning, shipbuilding, and Fujian’s cultural and economic landscape.  Fujian province, located in Southern China, serves as a hub for China’s maritime industry advancements, poverty alleviation efforts, and sustainable development initiatives.  Chinese President Xi Jinping spent approximately 17 years serving in various leadership roles within the province, including in Fuzhou, leaving a lasting impact on its development trajectory.
