Pakistan attracted $72.7 million in FDI from China in recent month Breaking

In September, Pakistan received a net foreign direct investment (FDI) of US$ 72.7 million from China, contributing to a total FDI influx of $126.3 million from the friendly neighboring country during the first quarter of the financial year 2023-24, Gwadar Pro reported on Saturday. According to the latest statistics from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) the inflow from China in September was recorded at $84.4 million, while the outflow stood at $1107 million, resulting in a net inflow of $72.7 million.

China’s contribution to Pakistan’s total FDI in September stood at 46.66%, with the country receiving a total FDI of $155.8 million.  Likewise, out of the $412 million FDI received by Pakistan in the first quarter of FY 2023-24 (July to September), investments from China accounted for $126.3 million, representing 30.65% of the total FDI inflow. As per the SBP's statistics, during the first quarter of FY 23-24, Pakistan’s total FDI of $412 million marks a notable increase of 28.9% compared to the corresponding period in the previous financial year.
