In connection with International Nurses and Midwifery Week, Pak-China Friendship Hospital’s Nursing Department has initiated a series of training sessions. The first session in this series was conducted by Consultant Dr. Mah Rukh Aslam from the Gynecology Department, focusing on the topic “Obstetric Emergencies,” according to Gwadar Pro.
Dr. Mah Rukh Aslam stated that nurses and midwives are the backbone of any hospital, providing the first reassurance and the final care to patients.
She elaborated on emergency conditions and complications that can arise in pregnant women, emphasizing that timely and appropriate actions play a crucial role in saving the lives of both mother and child.
The session was actively attended by nursing staff, midwives, and doctors, who stressed that nurses and midwives are the first responders; therefore, their prompt diagnosis and effective intervention can significantly reduce complications.
According to Nursing Department Manager Saima Ali Shah, this training series will continue throughout the week and will cover other important topics as well. At the end of the session, participants described it as highly beneficial and essential for practical life.
It is worth mentioning that International Midwifery Day is observed worldwide every year on May 5. On this occasion, the Nursing Department also organized a ceremony to acknowledge the services of midwives, where a cake was cut in their honor.
