Local hockey players in Peshawar marked the 75th anniversary of Pak-China friendship with great enthusiasm, as Baghdada Hockey Club Mardan defeated Islamia College University Peshawar 4-2 in an exhibition match organized by China Window, Gwadar Pro reported. The match attracted a large number of hockey enthusiasts, who cheered passionately and chanted slogans celebrating Pak-China friendship.
The contest remained closely fought, with both teams demonstrating high-quality play, but Baghdada Hockey Club ultimately secured victory. The Vice Chancellor of Islamia College University, Professor Dr. Ahmad Ur Rahman Saljoqi, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Speaking at the event, he congratulated the people of China on the 75th anniversary of Pak-China friendship, describing China as a time-tested and trusted friend of Pakistan.
He said the enduring relationship between the two nations remains a source of pride for the Pakistani people. He also extended an invitation to university sports teams from China to visit Pakistan, assuring them of warm hospitality and enhanced sports cooperation.
Players and spectators at the match praised the Pak-China friendship as everlasting. Afsar Khan, captain of the Islamia College University team, expressed pride in leading his side on such a significant occasion, adding that the bond between the two countries would continue to strengthen.
The captain of Baghdada Hockey Club Mardan Murad Khan commended China Window for organizing the event and congratulated the Chinese people and hockey community on the landmark anniversary.
Meanwhile, a football match is also scheduled to be held next week under the auspices of China Window as part of the ongoing celebrations.
