A new, dedicated power feeder supplying electricity to the Pak-China Friendship Hospital Gwadar was successfully energised on Thursday, ensuring uninterrupted 24-hour power to the key healthcare facility, according to a statement by the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA).
The feeder, connected via an underground cable from the Gwadar grid station, was energizsd under the supervision of Chinese experts and engineers. The GDA statement noted that the underground cabling will protect the line from humidity, adverse weather, and technical faults, ensuring a reliable supply.
According to Gwadar Pro, the project was completed through a special grant from the Government of Balochistan. Chinese technical teams worked alongside GDA officials for two days to complete the long-pending scheme, under the supervision of GDA Executive Engineer (Electrical) Sajjad Zaid.
With the activation of the new feeder, sensitive heavy medical machinery has become fully operational, enabling improved modern healthcare services for Gwadar residents. The Pak-China Friendship Hospital, operated by the Indus Hospital & Health Network, is one of the largest public-sector healthcare facilities in Gwadar. It provides secondary and tertiary care, including emergency services, diagnostics, and maternal and child health.
