Senior official of China Power Hub Power Generation Company, Private Limited 2*660MW (CPHGC) has said that the project has generated more than 23 billion kWhs cost-effective and clean electricity to the national grid, which is an excellent way to contribute to economic development and tax revenue for Government of Pakistan. In a briefing organized by All Pakistan Chinese Enterprises’ Association, executive assistant to CEO , Li Hualin has said that it is a priority energy project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)N, a real China-Pakistan joint venture company, sponsored by China Power international company and Hubco power company. This project is located in Balochistan, Pakistan. The total investment of the project is more than US$ 1.9 billion, which had realized its COD on Aug, 2019.

Since the beginning of the construction on this project, CPHGC has been committed to the goal of creating a “desert oasis” and creating a green and environmentally friendly ecological power plant, said Li. Li stated that the project has been constructed in accordance with strict environmental standards, and has won 74 national and provincial awards, including National Quality Engineering Gold Award, Lu-ban Award and some international awards. The company actively fulfills its social responsibilities, and has carried out desert tree planting and coastal cleaning activities in Pakistan for many years.

A total of more than 10,000 trees of various types have been planted surrounding the project. Today, the project site has changed from the original desert to full of trees, and the ecological environment has been significantly improved, added Li. Li announced that it is highly affirmed by the local environmental protection agency, and won the “Outstanding Contribution Award for Environmental Protection in 2022” by the Pakistan National Association for Environment and Health (affiliated with the United Nations Environmental Protection Authority). At present, a total of 868 Pakistani employees are working in CPHGC, of which Balochistan employees account for 31%, reaching 269. At present, CPHGC is conducting job evaluation and gradually streamlining and optimizing Chinese employees, vigorously promoting the localization of employees, and doing everything possible to create employment opportunities for the local area.

So far, CPHGC has donated more than 170 million PKR in various CSR projects, including constructed and operating a school for local kids, a dedicated fisher jetty, several roads and so on. At the end, Li told that they have always insisted on improving the life and education level of the local community and the natural environment. The implementation of CSR has been commended by the Pakistani government for social responsibility for four consecutive years.
