BEIJING (INP): The earliest birthplaces of human and Chinese civilization known as Shanxi is located at the eastern flank of the Loess Plateau in the western part of North China and in the middle of the yellow river basin; with the towering Tai-hang mountain as natural barrier, Hebei province is its neighbor in the east; in the west and south, with the yellow river as a natural moat. During the foreign media delegation visit to the Shanxi province, it was learnt that mineral resources in Shanxi are abundant and widely distributed. By the end of 2020, 120 types of minerals have been discovered. Among them, the reserves of 30 minerals including coal, coalbed methane, bauxite and iron ore, rank the top 10 in China. In addition there are 10 minerals with resources advantages and occupying an important position in the national economic and social development , including coal, coalbed methane, bauxite , iron ore , copper ore, rutile, magnesium ore, dolomite for metallurgy, refractory clay and bauxite.

Shanxi features large agriculture resources, and is the major producing area of high quality grains. There are variety of agriculture products with excellent quality, most of which have dual functions of food and medicine. Among them, millet buckwheat and oats have been selected as royal tribute throughout the ages. At present, there are 176 agricultural products with national geographical indication in Shanxi. In 2022, Shanxi achieved a total output value of 221.90 billion Yuan in agriculture , forestry , livestock and fishery with the total grain output of 14.643 million tons, an increase of 3.0 % . The government provided subsidies totaling more than 10 billion Yuan, including one time subsidies for grain farmers, land fertility protection subsidies of cultivated land and subsidies for the purchase for the purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment.

Livestock production maintained steady growth. In addition, both vegetable and food production hit 10 million tons, and the monitoring pass rate of agricultural products reported 99.5 % marking the highest level in history. In 2022, industrial enterprises in Shanxi achieved an added value of 1275.86 billion Yuan, rising 6.4 % year on year at constant prices. Industries above designated size in Shanxi saw an added value increased of 8.0% , 4.4% points faster than other provinces, achieving a revenue of 3796.12 billion Yuan, growing 13.8% year on year. By category, the mining industry reached 1657.33 billion yuan, growing by 17.6 % , the manufacturing industry reached reached 1737.22 billion yuan, with the growth rate of 7.8 % and the electricity, heat , gas and water production and supply industry achieved 401.57 billion yuan, growing by 27.5% .

The total profits of large scale industrial enterprises reached 363.34 billion yuan, showing growth rate of 22.8 % .The production of raw coal by large scale industrial enterprises was 1307.15 million tons, a growth of 8.7 % compared to the previous year; coke production was 979.97 million tons , a decrease of 1.4 % ; and electricity generation was 4153.3 billion kilowatt hours , growing by 7.5 % . By the end of the year, the installed power generation capacity in the province reached 120,795, 000 kilowatts , a 6.5 % increase from the previous year. The total electricity generated in the province throughout the year was 418.44 billion kilowatts hours , growing by 8.9 % .The transmission of electricity to other provinces amounted to 146.37 billion kilowatts hours with an increase of 18.5%.The overall electricity consumption in society was 272.08 billion kilowatt hours, showing a growth rate of 4.3 %.
