China remained Pakistan’s largest source of foreign direct investment, with net FDI from China reaching $176.2 million during the first two months of fiscal year 2026-27, according to the latest State Bank of Pakistan data.
Net FDI from China stood at $113 million in August, up from $63.2 million in July, an increase of $49.8 million.
The August figure accounted for about 35.8% of Pakistan’s total net FDI of $315.9 million during the month, while China’s cumulative net FDI of $176.2 million represented about 35.6% of the country’s total net FDI of $494.5 million during July-August, according to Gwadar’s report on Saturday.
Net FDI from China during the first two months of FY27 was also $55.5 million higher than the $120.7 million recorded during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, representing an increase of about 46%.
The SBP data showed gross FDI inflows from China of $238 million and outflows of $61.8 million during July-August FY27, resulting in net FDI of $176.2 million.
Pakistan’s overall net FDI reached $494.5 million during July-August FY27, compared with $398.6 million during the same period of FY26, an increase of $95.9 million.
Other major sources of net FDI during the first two months included Canada with $83.5 million, the United Arab Emirates with $58.1 million and Hong Kong with $43.5 million.
