A China-supported school in Pakistan’s southwestern port city of Gwadar will hold a science and art exhibition on Sept. 10, showcasing student projects and artwork.

The China-Pak Friendship School, officially known as Government Girls High School Faqeer Colony, has about 550 students from kindergarten to Class 10 and 22 teaching and non-teaching staff, Gwadar Pro reported.

The school was established as a primary school in 2016 on land donated by the family of local educator Naseem Baloch, with support from the China Foundation for Peace and Development. It was upgraded to a middle school in 2017 and to a high school in 2024.

Baloch, a coordinator at the school, told Gwadar Pro that the school aims to expand access to education for children from low-income families in the surrounding community.

He said some graduates had gone on to colleges and universities, including the University of Balochistan.

The school provides free education and has received support from the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and China Overseas Ports Holding Company.

Baloch said further cooperation with Chinese partners could focus on digital education, smart classrooms, artificial intelligence, teacher training and virtual learning, particularly for schools in remote areas.
