Protest by veterinary interns in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir entered its fourth consecutive day on Thursday, with students boycotting non-essential services to press for an immediate revision of their monthly internship stipends. According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstration was organized under the banner of the Jammu & Kashmir Veterinary Students Association (JKVSA).

Interns from Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology assembled outside main campus blocks in uniform in Srinagar, carrying placards and raising slogans demanding financial justice and parity. The protesters highlighted the wide pay gap between the Kashmir university interns and their counterparts in premier institutions of India.

At present, veterinary interns at the Kashmir university receive a monthly allowance of Rs 6,000, which they said was insufficient to cover transportation, accommodation and field posting expenses. In contrast, interns in Indian states receive stipends of up to Rs 23,500 per month.
