Residents protest drinking water scarcity in Baramulla Breaking

January 20, 2026

In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, residents of Tilgam Payeen village in the Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district staged a protest against the prolonged shortage of drinking water, accusing the authorities of failing to provide basic civic amenities. According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesters said the authorities have not installed drinking water pipelines at the tail end of the village, leaving a large section of the population without access to potable water.

They said repeated appeals and representations to the concerned departments have yielded no results, forcing them to take to the streets.  Local residents said the situation has worsened due to harsh weather conditions, causing immense hardship to women, elderly people, and children. They termed the continued deprivation of drinking water unacceptable and urged the authorities to intervene without further delay.
