Kashmir Day was observed in Peterborough, UK, under the auspices of "Tehreek-e-Bedari Kashmir". On the occasion, the participants were apprised of the ongoing atrocities by the Indian forces on innocent people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The present and former mayors and councillors of the city, local Member of Parliament, Paul Bristow, and community leaders and a large number of people attended the event. Deputy Ambassador of the International Human Rights Commission Vincent also specially participated in the function.
Chairman of Tehreek-e-Bedari Kashmir, Ijaz Shaiq, specially thanked Councillor Ansar Ali for his full cooperation in organizing the Kashmir Day function. Appreciating the presence of Vincent Lane in the program, he said that through him they can convey the problems faced by the people of the occupied territory to the top officials of the United Nations.
Ijaz Shaiq lamented that the UN resolutions regarding Jammu and Kashmir had not been implemented till date and due to the criminal silence of the international community, India was shamelessly continuing the series of serious violations of human rights in IIOJK.
Vincent thanked the organizers for inviting him to the Kashmir Day function and said they pay special attention to the war-torn areas and wherever human rights are violated around the world. He said that he would definitely visit India's illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Information Secretary of Tehreek-e-Kashmir, UK, Advocate Rehana Ali while talking on the occasion said RSS agitations have become active in the UK and they have started targeting Muslims here as well. She said that it was RSS goons who attacked worshipers in Leicester on Friday. Britain has to differentiate between Hinduism and Hindutva ideology, she added.
Deputy Mayor Alan Dawson said that human rights violations were the biggest challenge in the world today. He said the world has adopted a double standard on the issues of Kashmir and Palestine. Councilor Ansar Ali on the occasion said India, which claims to be the largest democratic country in the world, is committing serious violations of human rights in IIOJK, on which the silence of the international community is deplorable.
