Over 83,000 domicile certificates were issued to non-locals in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in the past two years, it was admitted by the occupation authorities during the question hour in the Assembly. According to Kashmir Media Service, the revelation was made in a written response to a question raised by Peoples Democratic Part lawmaker Abdul Waheed Parra.
However, analysts say that actual number of domicile certificates issued to non-locals by the authorities is in several hundred thousands.The total number of domicile certificates issued in the occupied territory during this period stands at 35,12,184.
