Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian troops arrested around four dozen civilians including women during the ongoing cordon and search operation (CASO) in Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi districts, which entered its sixth day. Indian army and paramilitary forces launched the operation on Thursday after an attack on an Indian army vehicle which killed five Indian troops in Bhata Dhurian in Poonch district.

Additional troops have been inducted to further intensify the cordon-and-search operation (CASO) in Bhata Dhurian-Tota Gali, Nar forest, Sanjiote, Kotan, Bhimber Gali, Sangiote, Mendhar, Thanamundi and other areas of the border districts. As the operation entered sixth day on Tuesday, the entire belt has been put under cordon with engagement of multiple forces’ personnel backed by drones, military helicopters and sniffer dogs, a police officer said.

The Indian officials confirmed that over forty people including women have been detained for questioning. Meanwhile, the troops continued their cordon and search operation and house raids in different areas of Srinagar, Islamabad, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Baramulla and Budgam districts. The personnel of Indian army and police arrived in dozens of vehicles and cordoned off Padshahi Bagh and nearby areas in Srinagar. They conducted house to house searches and checked the identity cards of locals. Even drones were pressed into service during the operation.

Commenting on the large-scale operations in three districts of the territory, experts and analysts ridiculed Modi government’s normalcy mantra. Seeing the holding of one of G20 events in Srinagar in May, the experts and analysts said that Indian government is shifting blame on China and Pakistan to hide its embarrassment.
