Police said a low-intensity blast on a railway track near Bothonia village between Shambu and Rajpura was a “detonation attempt by the accused,” who died in the explosion.   A body torn into pieces was found at the site, police said.  Patiala SSP Varun Sharma said the deceased has been identified as Jagroop Singh from Tarn Taran.  Police teams from the border district have been asked to gather details about him. 

Officials said they are probing multiple angles, including Singh’s presence at the site and his accomplices, as two bikes, wires, and a damaged mobile phone were recovered.   The railway track suffered damage and repair work is underway. Some trains have been diverted temporarily.  Senior officials are continuing the probe with the Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force, SSP Sharma added.
