The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that continued Indian occupation has subjected Kashmiris to the worst political, cultural, and economic aggression, as well as state terrorism, for over 78 years for their just demand of Azaadi. According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement in Srinagar, said that the Indian Dogra regime, army, paramilitary forces, Border Security Forces, and police have martyred over 450,000 Kashmiris, abducted youth and women, and tortured hundreds of thousands since 1989.
Thousands, including Hurriyat leadership, remain jailed, yet India has failed to intimidate Kashmiri sentiments or force their true stand into submission. He maintained that it is due to the unprecedented sacrifices of these martyrs that the Kashmir dispute remains alive, exposing India’s hegemony and so-called claim to democracy.
The statement said India has subjected Kashmiris to extreme political, cultural, and economic aggression through militarization and the use of black laws, imposing a Hindutva agenda, including Vande Mataram singing at official events in the internationally disputed territory. He said the BJP regime and its political agents in the occupied territory are interfering in the religious affairs of Kashmiri Muslims, attempting to divide the people—a grave threat to Kashmiri identity and culture.
“It is our responsibility to forge greater unity in our ranks and foil their nefarious designs,” the APHC statement stressed. The APHC urged the international community to take cognizance of India’s brutalities in occupied Kashmir and to play an effective role in settling the lingering Kashmir dispute and fulfilling Kashmiris’ aspirations under the Two-Nation Theory.
