Jailed Muslim prisoner stabbed to death in India's Faridabad prison Breaking

February 10, 2026

A Muslim prisoner was killed inside a prison in the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Indian state of Haryana. The prisoner, Abdul Rehman, who was lodged in Neemla Jail in Faridabad district, was murdered within the prison premises, police said. Indian police stated that the murder was allegedly carried out by another prisoner, Arun Chaudhry, a Hindu inmate who had recently been transferred to the facility from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Arun Chaudhry reportedly stabbed Abdul Rehman with a sharp-edged weapon and he died on the spot inside the jail premises, a senior police officer said.

The victim, Abdul Rehman, was a resident of Milkipur, Faizabad district of Uttar Pradesh. He had been in custody since June 2025. He was apprehended from Pali village near Faridabad by a joint team of the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad and the Special Task Force (STF) of the Haryana Police. Indian police claimed that Abdul Rehman was arrested in a suspected conspiracy case involving plans to carry out an explosion in Ayodhya, an Indian official said on condition of anonymity.
