June 15, 2022

The two missing Indian soldiers have been presumably ‘washed away’ in a river in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh, the Indian army said. The interesting element in the story is that the Anjaw district borders China on the north. An Indian Army spokesperson said that Naik Prakash Singh and Lance Naik Harender Singh, belonging to Uttarakhand and deployed at a forward post in Arunachal Pradesh, "are presumed to have fallen into a fast-flowing river near their post", an Indian Army spokesperson said. Intensive search operations have been on to trace them since May 28.

Despite extensive search and rescue operations, including aerial reconnaissance and tracker dogs, being pressed into action, there has been no success so far.
