In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian forces’ personnel arrested a Kashmiri civilian during a search operation in Pulwama district.According to Kashmir Media Service, a joint team comprising the Indian Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), CRPF 183 Battalion, and police carried out the operation in Rajpora area of the district, during which Mohammad Umar Malik, a resident of Kachipora Qasbayar in Rajpora was arrested.
Indian officials said that a case has been registered against him under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act.Indian authorities alleged that Malik was involved in pro-freedom activities and claimed recovery of arms and ammunition from his possession.
However, such allegations are frequently used to justify arrests and detentions of Kashmiris in the occupied territory. It is worth mentioning that thousands of Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders, activists and ordinary civilians, remain detained in various jails and detention centers across IIOJK and India.
