A Border Security Force (BSF) constable died in Bandipora district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. According to Kashmir Media Service, the constable died after a suspicious fire broke out in a barrack of the 62nd Battalion camp in the Madar area of Bandipora district. An official said the fire engulfed the barrack, completely gutting the structure in the BSF camp.
The constable, who was inside at the time, could not be rescued and was charred to death. The body was later shifted to District Hospital Bandipora for medico-legal formalities, after which it will be sent to his native place. The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Jalandhar, Punjab, India. Authorities have taken cognizance of the incident.
The incident has raised eyebrows among defense experts, with some questioning the circumstances surrounding the fire. Reports of fratricide and attacks among Indian army soldiers have been common, fueling speculation about possible “inside job”. The true cause of the fire remains unclear, warranting a thorough investigation to uncover the facts behind the constable’s tragic death.
