India appears to be postponing the long-anticipated procurement of Russian Su-57E fighter jets, reportedly bowing to growing pressure from Washington.  New Delhi is reassessing the deal amid fears of U.S. retaliation, raising concerns over the country’s strategic autonomy.

The move could signal a shift away from a tested defence partner in Russia toward deeper alignment with American strategic interests.  Experts and observers warn that compromising on long-standing defence cooperation with Russia could undermine India’s military readiness and regional leverage.
