Fresh snowfall in upper reaches and rain with gusty winds in the plains led to plummeting temperatures across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, forcing closure of several vital routes including the Mughal Road and stranding hundreds of vehicles.  According to Kashmir Media Service, the Mughal Road connecting Rajouri and Poonch with the Valley was closed after snowfall in the Peer Ki Gali area.

Traffic police said vehicular movement was halted due to slippery conditions, with commuters advised against travel until conditions improve.  Apni Party leader Raqeeq Ahmed Khan, stranded on the route, said at least 200 vehicles were stuck and urged immediate rescue, noting many women and children were among those stranded.

Another leader Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali also sought urgent intervention, citing sudden heavy rain, snowfall and hailstorms.  The Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road and Kishtwar-Sinthan-Islamabad road were also shut due to snow, while Gurez-Bandipora road closed amid accumulation.

One-way traffic was allowed on the Srinagar-Leh highway between Sonamarg and Kargil, subject to clearance.  BRO rescued around 20 vehicles at Razdan Pass and was mobilizing men and machinery to clear Peer Ki Gali and assist stranded passengers, including patients.
