Several areas across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir witnessed fresh snowfall, while other parts experienced light to moderate rains on Saturday, disrupting normal life. According to Kashmir Media Service, plains in Islamabad, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama districts were blanketed in fresh snow, while popular tourist destinations like Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam also received significant snowfall.
Higher reaches, including Gurez in Bandipora, parts of Kupwara, and other mountainous regions of the Kashmir Valley, continued to experience snowfall till the last reports came in. Meanwhile, most other parts of the Valley are seeing light to moderate rains.According to the IIOJK Meteorological Department, intermittent spells of rain are expected to continue throughout the day, with snowfall likely in the upper reaches.
The Met office has also predicted brief spells of light rain or snow at multiple locations by Sunday morning. The fresh spell of precipitation has intensified cold conditions in the territory, adding to the hardships of the people already facing prolonged power outages and disruptions due to harsh weather.
