Drone attack kills 112 at Syria military academyBreaking

October 06, 2023

An attack on a Syrian military academy has killed 112 people, including 21 civilians, said authorities blaming "terrorist organisations" for the drone strike in the central province of Homs. According to details, the armed terrorist targeted what should have been a joyous occasion: the graduation ceremony for officers of the military academy. Syria's defense ministry, in its grim announcement, revealed that the perpetrators employed weaponized drones to carry out their mission. Earlier, country’s Health Minister Hassan al-Ghobash, while offering a preliminary assessment, reported a lower death toll of 80, including six women and six children. Approximately 240 individuals suffered injuries of varying degrees.

Amidst this turmoil, Turkey's defense ministry announced a series of air strikes in northern Syria, targeting 30 locations, including shelters, depots, and storage sites. The repercussions of this horrifying incident were not confined to this military academy alone. In another tragic incident, Turkish air raids in the Kurdish-held northeastern region of the country claimed the lives of at least 11 individuals, as confirmed by Kurdish forces.  This retaliation from Ankara followed a bomb attack that had threatened such reprisals.
