BJP’s anti-Muslim ad sparks protests in JharkhandBreaking

November 20, 2024

An election advertisement by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jharkhand Assembly polls has sparked outrage for its dehumanizing portrayal of Muslims. Following complaints from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the Congress, the Election Commission directed social media platforms to remove the video and issued a notice to the BJP. Critics, including former occupied Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, have condemned the ad as "communal poison." Ruhullah Mehdi, MP from Srinagar, likened the ad to Nazi propaganda, while senior journalist Suhasini Haider highlighted its damaging impact on India's secular image. The JMM called the ad a violation of election guidelines, accusing the BJP of attempting to polarize voters.
