March 28, 2025

Jumat-ul-Wida (the last Juma of the holy month of Ramadan) and Eid prayers were banned in Uttar Pradesh state of India while in Haryana, the government cancelled the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday.  The Yogi government of the state of Uttar Pradesh has banned Eid-ul-Fitr and Jumat-ul-Wida prayers on the streets in Sambhal.   Assistant Superintendent of Police Chandra and Chief Executive Officer Anuj Chaudhary attended a meeting chaired by the sub-divisional magistrate in Sambhal. In the meeting, the sub-divisional magistrate clearly issued an order to ban Eid-ul-Fitr and Jumat-ul-Wida prayers on the streets.

It was said in the meeting that in addition to the roads, roofs and other open places will not be allowed to be used for Eid and Jumat-ul-Wida. It should be noted that the anti-Muslim measures of the Yogi Bharatiya Janata Party government in Sambhal district have been going on for several months. During this time, Hindu extremist riots have martyred several Muslims. Meanwhile, the BJP government of Haryana state has issued an order to cancel the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday, taking the anti-Muslim dimension to its peak.

Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has issued orders to all Muslim government employees to be present in the office on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr. The BJP government has asked to justify this decision that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the end of the financial year 2024-25.   An official order issued by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi states that since March 31 is the last day of the financial year, the Eid holiday has been converted into a prohibited holiday.
