October 28, 2023

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has condemned the occupation authorities for disallowing Juma prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar and placing senior APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest. According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that for the third consecutive Friday no prayers were allowed at the Jamia Masjid Srinagar and Mirwaiz was once again for the third consecutive Friday placed under house arrest. He said, the repeated closure of the historic mosque and house detention of Mirwaiz are reminders of the real situation in IIOJK and its so- called normalcy. The spokesman said that no reason for these restrictions was given by the authorities. He said if the reason is fear of display of support and solidarity by the people of Kashmir with the hapless people of Palestine being bombed and butchered by Israel, that solidarity was and will be there for them as fellow humans and Muslims.

He said, Kashmiris stand with the people of Palestine irrespective of bans and restrictions on them. The spokesman said the way Israel is carrying out the genocide of Palestinians with impunity, Kashmiris known for their conscientious and human approach in such matters will always support the genuine right of the people of Palestine over their land and life. “While thousands of children of Gaza have been bombed to death, hospitals and homes are being razed to ground, the war on Palestinians – a blot on humanity – continues uninterrupted and those who claim to be champions of human rights and freedoms are either supporting it or silent,” the spokesman deplored. The spokesman maintained that war can never bring peace, it only leads to destruction and creates more mistrust, insecurities and cruelties. He prayed to Allah Almighty that better sense prevails and the people of Palestine are saved from further agony and their rights restored to them.
