An Air India flight from Mumbai to New York was forced to return mid-air following a bomb threat. The Boeing 777-300 ER, carrying 322 people, including 19 crew members, landed safely at Mumbai’s airport on Monday at 10:25 am local time. A note with a bomb threat was reportedly found in one of the aircraft's lavatories. Security agencies are conducting mandatory checks, and Air India has assured full cooperation with authorities.
The flight has been rescheduled to depart at 5 am on March 11, with passengers provided accommodation and assistance. It is unfortunate for India that while its air force frequently suffers accidents, its civil aviation sector is increasingly facing security threats. The latest bomb scare adds to a growing list of concerns over aviation safety in the country, raising questions about the efficiency of security measures in place.
