South Africa End India’s 12-Match Winning Streak with a Dominant VictoryBreaking

February 23, 2026

South Africa sent a loud message at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup on Sunday, crushing defending champions India by 76 runs in their Super Eight clash. In what was a rematch of the 2024 final, the Proteas didn’t just win — they completely outplayed India in every department.

Batting first at the Narendra Modi Stadium, South Africa had a nightmare start. They were reduced to 20 for 3 in no time, thanks to tight bowling from Jasprit Bumrah and team. It looked like India had grabbed early control.

But cricket can change quickly.

David Miller and Dewald Brevis turned the game around with a fearless counterattack. The pair added 97 runs together, taking the pressure off and putting it right back on India. Brevis played fluently for his 45, while Miller was simply explosive, smashing his way to a rapid half-century. Later, Tristan Stubbs added the finishing touches, helping South Africa post a strong 187 for 7.

Chasing 188 was never going to be easy, and India’s innings never really took off. South Africa’s captain Aiden Markram made a smart move by starting with spin, and it worked instantly. Early wickets put India on the back foot, and they struggled to recover. A few batters tried to rebuild, but the required run rate kept climbing.

Then came the final blow. Keshav Maharaj ripped through the middle order, while Marco Jansen cleaned up the tail. India was bowled out for 111 in 18.5 overs.

For South Africa, this wasn’t just a win, it was a statement. They look confident, balanced, and ready to go all the way.
