Wuhan rolls out stricter measures to curb virus spread

February 11, 2020

WUHAN, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Wuhan, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak, issued two notices Tuesday morning to help contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, according to the city's epidemic control headquarters.

Suspected cases with mild symptoms including patients who have a fever should be quarantined and treated at nearby designated medical institutions. They shall not seek medical treatment in other districts to curb the spread of the virus, one notice read.

All residential communities will be sealed off from Tuesday, in a bid to further strengthen the control of the epidemic and minimize the flow of personnel, the other notice said, adding all building units with confirmed patients or suspected cases should be strictly closed and managed.

Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, reported 1,552 new infections and 67 deaths on Monday. The city plans to test all suspected cases of novel coronavirus infection in the city by Tuesday.  ■
