BEIJING, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- China called on the United States to see the pneumonia outbreak caused by the novel coronavirus in an objective, fair, calm and reasonable manner, and respect and cooperate with China as well as the international community to fight against the epidemic, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Tuesday.
The Chinese government and people are sparing no effort to fight against the epidemic, and measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic are making progress, Hua Chunying said.
She made the remarks when asked to comment on U.S. President Donald Trump's saying Sunday that the United States had "basically shut it down coming from China."
Although the number of confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection is relatively large, the fatality rate on the Chinese mainland is far lower than Ebola, SARS and MERS, with a still increasing cure rate, said Hua, adding that China has the confidence and capability to win the fight against the epidemic. ■
