The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) arranged an e-commerce orientation programme for its members to boost textile exports. MindWhiz Chief Executive Officer Shah Hassan gave APTMA members a thorough presentation on how to use global e-commerce platforms to increase exports. According to Shah, China is the largest exporter via e-commerce, and Amazon, a prominent e-commerce platform, has a global market volume of over $600 billion.
He said, Pakistan ranks third in terms of the number of sellers, behind the United States and China. Its main exports that have influenced e-commerce include textiles, leather, sporting goods, chemicals, carpets, and rugs. He said that the top seller on Amazon in 2022, who made $650 million in sales, is also from Pakistan. He added that there is a tonne of room for Pakistan to export textiles in the categories of clothes, bedding and bath, sports and outdoor goods, and kitchen and dining products.
He outlined selling methods on e-commerce platforms and advised the audience that these platforms have enormous growth potential for firms. He said that boosting brands in terms of revenue, client pleasure, and general performance is the ultimate purpose of e-commerce platforms. He said that sellers may make a profit margin of 46% by selling their goods online.
Vice Chairman of APTMA Asad Shafi said that if Pakistan takes 1% of the $600 billion global market volume at Amazon, its exports may rise by $6 billion annually. He said that the Patron-in-Chief of the APTMA Gohar Ejaz has envisioned using leftover yarn and fabric worth roughly $3 billion to produce clothing and other textile items locally, each costing $7 million and employing 700 people.
He went on to say that this new addition of stitching machines might result in an extra 210 billion dollars in exports and the employment of almost a million people. According to Asad, normal BMR and expansion along with the stitching revolution would increase global textile exports to $50 billion in the following five years. In order to increase Pakistan's contribution to global textile exports, the orientation session's goal is to identify supply chain problems, logistical difficulties, and the goal of customer happiness.
