TEXPO-2023 to inject momentum in Pakistan’s textile sector

The 4th International Textile Exhibition (TEXPO), organized by the Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), aims to provide a platform for local and international textile and leather companies to engage with industry specialists and access globally competitive raw materials and finished products, said an official.Zameer Ahmed Soomro, Assistant Manager TDAP, Textile and Leather Division, told WealthPK that hopes are high that Pakistan’s textile sector will gain momentum following this international exhibition, which is scheduled to be held at Expo Centre Karachi from May 26-28.

TEXPO is Pakistan's largest textile exhibition, providing an opportunity for Pakistan’s textile units reflecting products such as leather garments, gloves, footwear, cotton, embroidery and lace, readymade garments, home linen, towel, hosiery art silk, sportswear and functional fabrics, lace and accessories, denim, and knitwear. Soomro said that TEXPO-2023 is being organised for businesspeople associated with the textile and leather industries in Pakistan, where they can showcase their products and services, skills and expertise with the companies of the rest of the world. Companies from China, South Korea, Turkey, India, Bangladesh, Japan and Iran are also taking part in the event, and delegates from regional countries will be in attendance.

The official elaborated that TEXPO 2023 will be staged under the theme “Weaving the Way to Sustainability” as the importance of combating global warming and climate change for Pakistan has been visibly seen during the devastating floods of 2023. “Pakistan’s Textile sector has weaved a remarkable journey across borders and fulfilled the dreams of millions by becoming a source of employment, lifestyle and identity,” he said.

Soomro said representatives of more than 500 companies across the world will be visiting Pakistan to attend TEXPO 2023. Over 200 exhibitors from Pakistan are going to showcase their products at TEXPO-2023. Pakistan has been ranked as the fifth largest cotton producer in the world, and it will be an opportunity for the country’s textile sector as well as for all the delegates visiting Pakistan.

Soomro said Chinese enterprises and companies have also been invited to visit Pakistan and participate in TEXPO 2023. He said these expos prove very successful all over the world to enhance efficacy and capacity building by sharing mutual experiences. The products in focus would be apparel, art and silk synthetic textile, carpets, denim, fabric yarn, finished leather products, footwear, home textiles, personal protective equipment, sportswear, tents and canvas, textile machinery, towels and many more, he added. “The International Textile Expo 2023 highlights the glorious history of Pakistan’s textile industry, with best fabric, cotton and providing countless jobs around the world, improving lifestyles, enhancing identity and fulfilling the dreams of millions,” Soomro said.
