The Pakistan Railways has finalised a plan to brand several passenger trains and platforms to generate maximum revenue, WealthPK reports. According to an official, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has already directed the relevant authorities to present a new revenue model regarding the branding of trains and platforms.

He said that the branding of trains and platforms would not only address the increasing deficit of Pakistan Railways but would also allow private firms to advertise their products for the purpose. Initially, the department will offer five trains for branding their seat covers, internal walls of the passenger coaches, and even toilets as a pilot project.

The deficit of the department will decrease after the launch of the project. The minister has already directed the quarters concerned to complete all the formalities in this regard as soon as possible. Pakistan Railways is also planning to upgrade its five major railway stations across the country on modern lines to facilitate passengers and generate more revenue.

The railway stations of Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Peshawar and Quetta will be upgraded into commercial hubs for business activities and the facilitation of passengers. The government is taking several steps to improve the performance of Pakistan Railways and provide maximum convenience to passengers.
