The visit of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz – the first female chief minister, to China will open new opportunities for women entrepreneurs.
Talking to WealthPK, Ayesha Jabeen, a salon owner, said gone were the days when it was said that women had no role to play in business, as nowadays there was hardly any field where women were not making their presence felt. With the help of their talent and abilities, women have made their mark in every sphere of life and achieved new heights of success. She said women were also playing their crucial roles in managing their children and families efficiently.
She said it was a matter of great pride that Maryam Nawaz was the first female chief minister of Punjab who had completed a successful visit to China. During the visit, she signed several important agreements. “This visit gives us hope that new business opportunities will emerge in Pakistan, enabling us women, along with men, to further expand their businesses effectively.
Maryam’s visit to China has sent a strong message across the country that women are capable of breaking the glass ceiling and engaging in international diplomacy,” she said. She said the initiatives taken by the chief minister following her visit to China could potentially create opportunities for talented women entrepreneurs.
Talking to WealthPK, Dr. Salma, a teacher, said, “We have to encourage women to come forward in business sectors and test the waters to strengthen the national economy.” She said it's not rocket science for any woman to run a business. If a woman can juggle and nurture her children efficiently and take care of the entire family, then she is also able to run her business smoothly.
Owing to the deep-rooted taboos, women are hesitant to step into the business arena, she added. “I hope the incumbent chief minister of Punjab will leave no stone unturned to help women entrepreneurs to excel in every sphere of life,” she said.
She said most businesses were currently dominated by men; however, the woman chief minister in Punjab and her successful visit to China exhibited that nationally and internationally women could make a splash. “Now is the ripe time to train female students to join businesses rather than remain stuck in a rut by limiting themselves to traditional jobs,” she suggested.
Mohsin Ali, an SEO specialist, told WealthPK that Maryam’s visit to China will leave a positive impact on the IT sector, which had the potential to create multiple jobs for males and females. He claimed that by securing agreements in the IT sector, the CM Punjab was hitting two birds with one stone by strengthening the national economy and helping businesses create jobs.
The IT sector is one of the fields where countless females are rolling up their sleeves to support their families. He said China, one of the largest economies in the world, could help Pakistan tackle its economic woes through investment in multiple businesses and technologies.
