President Dr Arif Alvi has stressed the necessity for improved trade, economic, and educational collaboration with Senegal. He was talking to Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Senegal Saima Sayed, who visited him. The president said that both countries have excellent potential to expand their trade and commercial ties for the benefit of both nations.
According to him, Pakistan views Senegal as a significant country in the West African area and urged the ambassador to work cooperatively to strengthen existing bilateral ties. He asked the ambassador to focus on setting up ministerial-level bilateral interactions between the two countries.
The president expressed delight at Pakistani businesspeople’s long-standing involvement in trade shows (such as the Dakar International Economic Fair, or FIKDAK), noting that such events would assist in further advancing trade relations between the two countries. To increase the amount of bilateral trade, President Alvi urged the ambassador-designate to organise additional trade shows in conjunction with the relevant ministries. He urged improved educational collaboration between Senegal and Pakistan.
President Alvi said that the Virtual University of Pakistan now has 8,000 international students registered in various programmes, and that Senegalese students can also make use of the online and remote learning opportunities provided by both the Virtual University and the Allama Iqbal Open University.
