Chairperson Subh-e-Nau Shahida Kausar Farooq has stated that the country needs contemporary alternative energy sources, particularly solar and wind energy to address the present energy problem and ensure Pakistan’s sustained growth and development, According to Shahida, the population growth in Pakistan is straining the country’s limited resources, which is why there are lines for bread and gas shortages, and protracted power outages. In terms of lives lost and property damage, Pakistan is now one of the areas most impacted by climate change, she said.
To address the energy dilemma, Pakistan must depend more heavily on alternative energy sources. Currently, the world uses solar and wind energy to satisfy its energy demands, and this must be encouraged in Pakistan as well, she added. She said that China is establishing vast forests and creating wind and solar energy parks. Pakistan must alter its top priorities, too, she added. If Pakistan is to be rescued from the effects of climate change, it must make radical changes, change its priorities, and invest in eco-friendly projects rather than housing societies, she added.
