National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf in a meeting with Kazakhstan Ambassador to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin discussed matters related to improving trade, relaxing visa policies, expanding parliamentary cooperation, and supporting the National Assembly's (NA) call for global funds through the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to combat climate catastrophe.

Both sides emphasized the importance of exploring the enormous economic potential between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

The speaker said that Pakistan appreciates its relations with Kazakhstan, a significant Central Asian nation with whom it has the same vision of regional cooperation. He also welcomed the ambassador.

He said that lawmakers on both sides may strengthen already-existing bilateral connections through mutual contact and that parliamentary diplomacy might play a vital role in fostering cooperation.

According to Ashraf, the Pak-Kazakh Friendship Group in the NA is actively striving to improve ties between the legislative branches of the two nations.

He said that to further enhance economic connections, the business community of both nations should encourage trade and investment by looking into investment prospects.

The speaker stated that Pakistan was facing unprecedented climate challenges, and to combat this massive challenge, NA has moved an emergency item for the 145th IPU Assembly in Rwanda from October 11-15, 2022.

He went on to say that a letter and resolution on the subject had been sent to the Chairman, with a request to support Pakistan's stance at the upcoming conference. He also shared the letter and resolution with Ambassador.

While thanking the Speaker for the warm reception, the Ambassador expressed solidarity with flood victims and shared a condolence letter from the Mazhilis Chair.

He praised the friendly ties between the two countries and promised future collaboration in a variety of fields.
