Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, met Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar and the two agreed to sign the Kazakhstan-Pakistan transit trade agreement. The two talked about possible avenues for trade and collaboration between Pakistan and Kazakhstan, including signing several transit trade agreements. The minister stated that the government is eager to further develop the bilateral economic and trade ties. He also expressed confidence in the two sides' ability to swiftly reach agreements.
Syed Naveed Qamar noted that Pakistan will host the Joint Working Group on Trade's meeting in the coming months to review problems pertaining to bilateral trade and take action to further economic integration. The minister stated that the December 23, 2022 memorandum of understanding signed by Kazakh Invest and QazTrade from Kazakhstan, and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and Board of Investment from Pakistan will further improve trade and investment activities between the two sides.
Syed Naveed Qamar asked the ambassador to attend the 18th OIC Member States Trade Fair as the guest of honour, which will be held in Lahore from June 16 to 18, 2023, with the theme Women Entrepreneurship. He further requested that the Kazakh government set up a special pavilion at the OIC Trade Fair. The minister's support was welcomed, and Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin expressed hope that the agreements would be completed quickly. In addition to this deal, the ambassador expressed a strong interest in Pakistani furniture, sporting items, and tourism.
