Pakistan and Australia have decided to keep working together to advance trade, information technology, and intellectual property rights, particularly with relation to Pakistan's rice exports and agricultural import policies. The 9th session of the Pakistan-Australia Joint Trade Committee (JTC), which was held in Islamabad, resulted in an agreement from both parties to further develop bilateral ties between the two countries, a joint statement said.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary of Commerce Muhammad Sualeh Ahmad Faruqui said Australia's trade links with Pakistan are valued and emphasised that Australia has become one of Pakistan's most important development partners. Gary Cowan, First Assistant Secretary, North and South Asia Division, who led the Australian delegation, praised Pakistan for hosting the 9th JTC session and said that Australia is eager to discuss bilateral trade issues and shared importance. Ahsan Ali Mangi, Assistant Secretary for Trade Diplomacy, led the Pakistani delegation to the JTC meeting.
